The government has issued a directive to suspend daily assemblies in all of its primary schools nationwide until further notice, citing the ongoing heatwave.

The Directorate of Primary and Mass Education disseminated this information through a notification signed by Md Touhidul Islam, assistant director (Policy & Operations, Integrated Education).

Touhidul Islam said, "School authorities will implement this directive starting April 21, when schools are set to reopen."

This decision aims to protect the health of students amidst the severe heat conditions prevailing in the country.

According to a bulletin from the Bangladesh Meteorological Department issued at 9:00 am today, a severe heatwave is affecting the Khulna division, as well as the districts of Rajshahi, Pabna, and Tangail.

The bulletin further indicates that a mild to moderate heatwave is prevailing over the Barishal division, the remaining parts of Dhaka and Rajshahi divisions, and the districts of Chandpur and Moulvibazar, and it is expected to persist.
