An awareness-building seminar titled “What to Do When You Notice Developmental Problems in Your Child” was held at the premises of EDI (Early Development Initiative) on Saturday (19 April).

EDI is an institute that offers language-behavioral interventions to children with atypical development, utilizing the latest science.

The free seminar was designed to generate awareness among parents and teachers regarding the various developmental stages of early childhood and how to recognise children with special needs, reads a press release.

Dita Chapman, an internationally renowned Early Intervention and Behavior Specialist and the clinical director of EDI, was the keynote speaker of the seminar. With over 15 years of experience in the field, she has been instrumental in similar initiatives in Malaysia, Thailand, and Nepal.

During the seminar, Dita addressed the developmental milestones of young children, highlighting what parents, practitioners, pediatricians, and educators should observe, particularly regarding developmental 'red flags,' and emphasizing the importance of early intervention.

She also discussed strategies that parents and practitioners can employ upon noticing these red flags in a child's development, as well as the priorities of early intervention programs.

Participants expressed their belief in the necessity of such seminars and their potential to greatly benefit concerned parents, teachers, and practitioners in similar fields.
